It's More than a Sport, Its a Lifestyle

Adamson F.A.Q.

What is the purpose of the Adamson Splash and Dash Race?

Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyles to youth in the Brazos Valley by encouraging youth to be active and participate in multisport events.

What is Multisport?

Multisport is a term used to describe two different sports that are combined into one event.  The more common multisport events are Triathlon(Swim, Bike, Run) and Duathlon (Run, Bike, Run).  There are other multisport events such as, Aquabike (Swim, Bike), and Aquathlon (Swim, Run).  Splash and Dash is a more descriptive label than Aquathlon.

This Race looks fun, but my child isn’t a great swimmer.  Should he particiapte?

Absolutely.  There are at least four lifeguards focused on the participants in the pool at all times; two of these guards are in the water at all times.  Most kids can touch in the shallow end and it is perfectly acceptable to hang on the the lane ropes in the deep end if a break is needed.

The race information mentions a Pool Party.  How does this party work?

The pool party is a great time for youth and parents alike.  The entire pool is reserved for participants and family from 10:00 to 12:00 after the race.  The watersides will be active and the participants play as hard as they raced.  There will also be a pizza party and water available to all participants as a reward for their hard work.

Is this Event timed?

Yes, the race is hand timed similar to cycling races.  This allows us to keep our costs low as the event continues to grow.

Will there be awards for the top finishers?

Yes, the award categories are: 6-8. 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, 16+ for male and female finishers.

Was wondering if the start is staggered, e.g. fastest/oldest starting first. Lemme know!

    • Yes, the start is a time trial start with every participant generally leaving every 10 seconds. The Start is on the slide and the timer ensures that the previous participant is clear of the slide exit before the next participant starts the race. Participants are lined up and started oldest to youngest.

No packet pickup, just show up if we registered?

    • That is correct. We will not be using race bibs, so there will be a check in before the race starts where participants will pick up their free T-shirt and will be body marked. Check in will be at the Trinity Multisport Tent starting 15 minutes before Transition opens.
