Race Weekend Extravaganza

Kemah Sprint Triathlon, Kemah Kids Triathlon, Bucketlist Triathlon, and Cedar Park Kids Triathlon

We had athletes at four different races in our first weekend of racing this season!  Thirteen of our athletes raced at the Kemah Sprint and Kemah Kids Triathlons in Kemah, The Bucketlist Triathlon in College Station, and the Cedar Park Kids Triathlon in Cedar Park, TX.  All of our athletes did very well for their first races of the season.  These races were great benchmarks to show where our athletes line up with other regional athletes and provide a starting point for their improvement over the season.

IMG_1889The conditions at Kemah were overcast and misty, but it did not slow down Pegga Mosavi in her first triathlon with Trinity Multisport.  She represented our team extremely well and placed first in the 15-19 age group.  Our youth athletes at Kemah faced the same conditions, but also dealt with a tightly packed course that was redesigned race morning.  It was a great spectator friendly multi-loop course, but it did confuse the field of younger athletes.  After removing the athletes who did not complete the correct number of loops on the run, our four athletes placed 1st and 4th in the 7-8 males, 2nd in the 9-10 males, and 3rd in the 9-10 females.

The weather for the Buckletlist Triathlon turned out to be great conditions for a race.  Designed as a triathlon for first time triathletes, the distances lined up well for our Youth Elite Athletes.  Jillian Phillips, in her first triathlon of the season, placed first in the 19 and under age group.  She has improved greatly from last season and we are looking forward to see her progress as the season unfolds.

IMG_1900As usual, Cedar Park Kids Triathlon was a sold out race.  With close to 400 youth participants and being the first race in the USAT South Midwest Region Youth Series and the first race in the Lonestar Youth Triathlon Environment Series, it was a extremely competitive field.  We had 10 athletes compete in this race and it was a great first race for our team.  The course was very straight forward, a pool swim with slightly rolling hills on the bike and a trail run to the finish.  We had two first place finishers; one of these had the fastest Transition time (T1) out of all the Juniors and the other battled her way from last in the starting line up to claim the first place spot in her age group.  We also would like to congratulate Isaac White as this was his first triathlon and he is now officially a Triathlete.  For a runner who had never swam competitively, he did outstanding.  It will be exciting to watch him progress this season.

We would like to thank the parents for their commitment to their athletes, the sport, and the team.  Above all, we would like to thank the Lord for His provision, insight, and continued safety for our athletes and families.

Our next race is Hidden Cove in The Colony, TX.  We will see everyone there!

I am from MS and would love to see some youth teams grow over here. I really enjoy and appreciate what y’all are teaching and providing these youth with. May The Lord continue to bless y’all’s team. Good luck the rest of the season.
